The Constantia Valley is the oldest wine producing region in the Southern hemisphere & is at the heart of South African wine making, dating back to 1685, when wine was first made on the farm named Constantia.

Groot Constantia wine estate in Cape Town used the French translation “Grand Constance” and “Vin de Constance”  on its wine labels.

It was Constantia wine that Napoleon Bonaparte enjoyed during his reign as Emperor of France.
